I know essentially zero about naval aviation. But I thought that the carrier's angled runway is for landing, and the fore-and-aft one is for take-off? Or is that only in some particular circumstance? Would somebody please illuminate me?

The A2A Comanche 250 is a very "real" airplane to fly. I've experienced one problem multiple times, if you use the PMS50 GTN 750 and activate HI TRK with LOC available the Elevator TRIM freezes than Oscillates and therefore makes it very difficult to land safely (always needing to go around). And so far my experience with the A2A support "forum" has been disappointing.

From a cold start my aircrafts hover engines are locked open, how do i close them? I tried just taking off from a hover then clicking the button to disengage it but it stays open, how come?

It seems as if there is and stays a kind of protection cover at the top of the tail and rudder. I searched in pictures at Google for this aircraft, but I could not find a picture of a version with that kind of tail top. Is this a special version?

When the DC Designs Phantom was released, I held back because I wanted to wait until someone made one with better-looking textures. I'm glad I did, because here it is...!!!

One of these parked at White Waltham (EGLM) yesterday, (20/06/24) had a good look at it and took a few pics, very impressive Aircraft.

Curious you choose the oldest 3rd party DCS module to criticize the flight modelling. Paid FS2020 shill? DCS blows everything else away.

I wish you people would actually learn something first before trying to tell others. 1) Your airspeed is in KPH 2) The flight model is total junk (not the aircraft, but FS) 3) That vario is completely wrong!! It's showing sink when it should be showing climb while on tow (compensated or not!) 4) Ground handling is totally wrong 5) Handling on tow is wrong 6) They are AIRBRAKES, not "spoilers". The binary on/off operation is also completely wrong. Are you using an XBox controller? 7) Thermals are totally unrealistic in FS2020 (and FS2024) 8) You make a big deal about the ground textures, but absolutely nothing about the sky/clouds/reading the sky to find lift. Comes across as marketing propaganda. FS is total garbage in the area that it should be very good at: THE SKY!!! Screw a few satellite ground textures. Irrelevant for flying gliders! For anyone seriously considering a simulator for gliding, there is only one option: Condor 2. Thank me later.

Great review. For those interested in a more realistic start-up sequence, it's possible to bind a joystick button to the helicopter's starter switch and have it behave as in real life (i,e., not be automatic). For this, choose a free button on your joystick , go to the controls setup page, and assign the following: Assign *"Starter 1 (hold)"* to the button's *"ON PRESS"* event. Also, Assign *"Toggle starter 1"* to the same button's *"ON RELEASE"* event. When doing the second assignment, sim might complain that this button already has an assignment, but that's exactly what's intended - assigning both "press" and "release" events to the same button, to the sim knows what to do in each case. If you get it right, you will now need to keep the button pressed for as long as you wish to have the helicopter's starter engaged, that is, from initial start-up all the way to 58% NG. Release it too early, and the engine will wind down without starting. Note that for this to make much sense, it's best to also have a joystick axis controlling engine power. For that, assign *"Set Helicopter Throttle axis"* to a free axis in your joystick. It won't interfere with the collective control, it will only rotate the throttle grip on the collective control, allowing you to follow the engine increase/decrease rpm procedure during start and shutdown. Nice for those who want that much more realism.

You know what CAN much more than just "hold a candle" to the DCS Phantom? The Advanced version of the same Phantoms pack from MilViz. Also 100% free, but alas you can only have it in FSX or P3D flavor. Still 100% worth it if you are even slighting into proper flight dynamics.

Great video. I like your editing and use of camera angles. I rarely have more than an hour to play with the sim, so I'd barely get ready to taxi in that time. And maybe, just maybe, in ten or twenty years we wont have to suffer those stutters in the immediate foreground when looking sideways in the sim. That is so jarring.

I can't wait to see the paintwork after the Avionics guys have been in the cockpit with their screwdrivers.

I imagine that a Phantom making a low pass over one's head at mach 1, would be quite exhilarating. Once you recovered.

Heya, I have a question, when I'm in cruise section of flight, I changed the "selected" speed to 300 instead of the "managed" 285, but nothing changes, the aircraft remains at 285? and what detent am I supposed to have the throttle in whilst in cruise? I see "CL" "FLX/MCT" and "TOGA" ... but nothing designating a "cruise" detent? when I switch into either "TOGA" or "FLX/MCT" the aircraft speeds up to overspeed, speeds? argggggg, so trying to get my head around flying, operating this aircraft, lol

Valley was opened during WW2 as a diversion/refuelling station for American aircraft crossing the Atlantic. It was picked as it was rarely fogged in. It was said the average wind speed at VAL was Force 8! Mona predates VAL. It was originally an airship station for the fledgling Royal Navy Air Service. American and RAF WW2 crews had to be careful of Holyhead Mountain as its right on the approach for 13. Sadly, a number of crews crash on the mountain, and there is a memorial of a B25 Mitchell's propeller dedicated to their memory on the mountain.

It looks much better (visually) than the DC Designs F-4. I do like flying it, though, waiting for Blackbird or Heatblur. The one in this video isn't an option because I am on Xbox. The F-4 is a favourite for me since childhood. Nice landing, by the way! This video depicts a perfect flight in a Royal Navy Phantom!

Last time I bought a Milviz product (Pilatus PC-6) when I asked about spin and stall characteristics their official response was "you're not supposed to do that, so it's not simulated" This is free, and it's the only price Milviz planes are worth. Keep that in mind. They're toys.

Curious as to when you might do another top ten sort of video. The last one you did, along with your full reviews, decided most of my favourite aircraft, so it was immensely useful and probably saved me a lot of money. I appreciate you’re busy, though, and love your usual content. Happy also with my collection so far, but I’m about ready to start down the airliner route, as I’ve been sticking mostly to piston and turboprop, and three or four fast jets for kicks. I’ve been working my way through the Academy training, too, so progressing well - definitely worth the investment as a bundle. So, as someone who wants to learn airliners from scratch but also wants to graduate to finely detailed operation over time, are there one or two planes you would say cover that? I noticed PDGM are pricey, but that’s not an issue, I just worry they will be overwhelming to begin with. Again, I appreciate what you do, thanks.
